Hi,

You have multiple options for 10gig ports module, depends on your requirement. Either copper or Fiber
Your switch is 6509-E, currently 5 slots are used. You can put module in 6,7 ,8 and 9 slots. However 5 and 6 slots are recomended for Sup-Engine.
Below is the link which guide you regarding your requirement
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/product_data_sheet09186a00801dce34.html
Note: Some of the part numbers are EOL or EOS. Please confirm before ordering.

Cisco Catalyst 6500 16-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Copper Module
Part Number : WS-X6816-10T-2T

Cisco Catalyst 6500 16-Port 10 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Module

It seems it is possible: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/catalyst-6500-series-switches/product_data_sheet09186a00801dce34.html, says that "modules are interoperable with the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Virtual Switching Supervisor Engine 720 with 10GE uplinks and the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Supervisor Engine 720", and in your info it says you have CEF720.

However, you must contact your sales representative and ask him about module compatibility before buying anything

Yes you can. You need to insure the 10g card works in a 6500-E chassis. For a sup2T, the 10g card needs a CFC or DFC4, and be supported by your IOS version. (The latter is likely true with your IOS version.)

One 10g card that cannot be used would be the 6708 as it has a DFC3 which cannot be upgraded.

Keep in mind, the 6509-E, is only 80 GBps per slot, so if you have more than eight 10g ports, the card will be oversubscribed. (If you later move your sup2T to a 6807, your maximum slot bandwidth will be increased.)

Hi,
We have a Cisco WS-C6509-E product. We want to use GUI for Cisco WS-C6509-E on Windows 10 Enteprise OS.
Which program can we use?.Can you send us the GUI EXE link?.
Thanks,Regards ...
NOTE:Cisco Network Assistan GUI can not work.Is Cisco Prime LAN Management Solution (LMS) true program?...
Suleyman

Firstly, for your question, I would suggest you post it as a totally new stand alone post, especially rather than a reply to a five year old thread not specific to your issue.

Secondly, as 6500s used to be top tier Enterprise L3 switches, a GUI might be unavailable as such devices were often configured by more knowledgeable network engineers (who are comfortable using the CLI).
