Configure Port-channel and vPC in advance in Nexus 9K

hi,

i'll be configuring a new N9K switch to replace a C9300.

my question is, can i configure in advance the port-channel and vPC in the N9K even without the SFP inserted and fiber cables patched?

just want to prepare the config so it will be a faster to swing cables from C9300 to the new N9K during the maintenance window.

As I know you can use any interface for vpc keepalive and peer-link and PO vpc.

So do configure even without fiber

hi,

that's far from my question. have you configured a Nexus 9K switch before?

can you pre-configure interfaces as trunk (either RJ45 or fiber) and vPC even before they're patched in?

In real NO

In Lab I do vpc maybe 50 times'

You need to start config

1- match the stp mode

2- need one l3 interface for keepalive

3- config vpc domain and config peer-keepalive under it

4- decide which vlan will be vpc vlan and which will not be vpc vlan

5- config trunk for peer-link' this trunk config with port-channel and you can use single link in port-channel

5-allow vpc vlan in this port-channel.

Note:- feature needed for vpc

A- feature lacp

B- feature interface vlan

C-feature hsrp

Note:- the command need to check vpc config is

Show vpc breif

That all what you need.

Why cisco recommends using fiber not rj45 because of when design vpc you need to consider that all traffic between two nexus pass through vpc peer-link so you need high BW for this link (this only in some case' the healthy network not need that).
