Nexus 9332PQ - Port Channel configuration - Incompatible Port [Port Type]

Hi community,

I can not do the following on a Nexus 9332PQ:

I want to add a port to an existing vPC. Port members in this vPC are Port 1/27 to Port 1/32.

Adding Port 1/24 to a vPC results in an error.

ETH_PORT_CHANNEl-3-COMPAT_CHECK_FAILURE: Port Type ist not compatible.

Show port-channel comüatibility-parameters | b "Port Type" says "Members must be all server or all fabric facing ports".

So how do I check which ports are server and which ports a fabric facing ports?

Is this because the last six ports (1/27-32) are different from port 1/1 to 1/26?

Is it impossible to add port 1/24 to a vPC which has port 1/27-32 as members?

System version:

7.0(3)I2(2d)

Attachments:

show capabilities from port 1/24 and 1/28

Thank you very much in advance!

yes you cannot add ALE and NFE ports in the port-channel

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/switches/datacenter/nexus9000/sw/ale_ports/b_Limitations_for_ALE_Uplink_Ports_on_Cisco_Nexus_9000_Series_Switches.html#id_10742

Port channels cannot contain both ALE and Network Forwarding Engine (NFE) members.

more on ALE and NFE ports - https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/nexus-9000-series-switches/white-paper-c11-732452.html

difference is the "buffer boost" capability as you see in sh int cap o/p. but even switching off buffer boost for NFE port will not help to bundle the ports in PC.. you will get a diff error- '

command failed: port not compatible [Port Type]

'

anyways to check the ale and nfe ports i will use the interface capability or you can use "show interface hardware mapping" and look for "HName" field.. ALE ports will be named as hgx ports and NFE ports will be named as xe port. BTW for 9332pq first 26 ports are NFE ports and last 6 are ALE ports.

thank you
