Can we do a discussion on Catalyst Instant Access.  Any thought on the Catalyst 6800ia switches?

Hi Nelson,

IA can be though of as Campus FEX. the 6800ia is not a switch, but a remote line card - just like the Nexus 2K is the the Nexus 5K. All forwarding is done on the parent switch.

The biggest advantage is the simplified management model  and that you get the feature set of the Cat 6K. Currently the 6800ia can be stacked up to 3.

It's orderable now and compatible with the 6K E chassis, the 6904 line card and the Four X modules and will soon be compatible with the Cat 6807. There will also a 4 RU Cat 6880 soon as well that it wil be compatible with.

Is it supported by Sup720 or just 2T ?

only 2T and some cat 6500 interface module card. check 6800 datasheet.
