Options for when DX80 Touchscreen not working?

The touchscreen on my DX80 stopped working. I read in a forum that you can disconnect the touchscreen and use a keyboard and mouse with it so removed the back and then disconnected the 4 ribbon cables (one at a time, checking each time to see if I had mouse support) but no luck. I left them disconnected and reassembled it, but still no mouse. What options do I have? What else can I try? Seems like such a waste to scrap this whole device because the touchscreen stopped working and I can't believe that it doesn't have native keyboard and mouse support.

I also have the same problem. My DX80 in CE9.15.13. I have tried the same way you metioned but faild. And then I bought the 4 pin connection 1 to 2. One for touchscreen and another for the mouse. Because the DX 80 will selfcheck the HW even it is stop wordking. I hope could cheat it but not work. So looks the drive of touchscreen is different to the mouse in CE OS. Whether any hardware expert could explain the detail of it?
