Hello,
I have a quick question: if we use CUCILync 8.5, do we still need CUPS to see the availability status of the phones, even if a user has only a Cisco phone, and not Lync?
TIA and regards.

No because User A in your example is not running CUCILync to feed their phone's status into the Lync client. Note that a CUP server is never used with CUCILync. The only time you would use a CUP server is if you want to perform a CSTA gateway integration to the Lync servers instead. You would not typically deploy both configurations; either CUCILync or the server-side integration.

No. CUCILync will take CTI control over the phone and feed the on/off-hook status to the Lync client.

Jonathan,
I don't know if I have correctly explained my problem, so I make a simple example:
User A
Cisco 7940
User B
Cisco 7960
Lync/CUCILync
So, only User B has Lync/CUCILync.
Can User B see the status of User A by Lync/CUCILync without using CUPS? That is, do I need only CUCM + Lync to see that status?
Regards.
