Hi Balaji,

Although unsupported and you are better using ESXi it looks like you should be able to get it to install as long as you configure your Virtual Machine settings correctly. Have a look at the following post:

hi

Yes i have followed the post and made the changes as mentioned, but most of the installation carried away with Windows 7, not windows 2008R2

Hi,

The host OS should not matter as that will not be visible to CUCM's hardware detection script, it's more likely that the guest OS choice (i.e. which variant of Redhat Linux) or physical CPU may not be compatable.

Normally when instaling CUCM you would use an OVA Tempalte when creating a CUCM VM using ESXi:

http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=283782839&flowid=26422&softwareid=283088407&release=8.6(1)&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=&reltype=latest

This has the the exact guest OS settings CUCM Expects, you could carry on with trial and error to see if you can homefully get the correct settings. The following information from the Cisco Wiki on virtualising CUCM may be a useful reference:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/Unified_Communications_VMware_Requirements

Personally I recomend you bite the bullet and use ESXi, the free variant works a treat with CUCM, the main issue may be if your hardware is in-compatable (i.e. ESXi does not have the built-in drivers).

I am running 8.6 on workstation 7 with no problems.

What is your hardware?

You may want to check that the Intel Virtualization Technology flag is enabled, its normally referred to as the VT flag. It is usually in the BIOS setup under security.

Graham

Hi Graham

thanks for the suggestions, i have already enable that setting in bios, and iam able to install other Linux based installation in the same server with out any issue.

but when iam installing CUCM 8.6

i get this error. :

the hardware you are using not support this product.

Installation will halt

tried different options but no use, i get still same message.

looks like its not support VMWARE Workstation as per the product document, it need ESXi

iam using Windows 2008 R2 not windows 7

That CPU should be OK, I think 2.4 Ghz is the slowest.

I notice that your disk is setup as an IDE, try changing it to SCSI

Graham

Hi Graham

that was old. later i select scsi only.

as per the document, attached screen shot for your reference.

It may be your CPU that is not supported:

http://docwiki.cisco.com/wiki/UC_Virtualization_Supported_Hardware#Processors_.2F_CPUs

The error message you are getting comes from a script run as part of hardware detection that uses a file with a list of supported configurations. I.e. server model type (Physical and Virtual) as well as CPU/HD Specifics.

The error you get is when there is no match in the hardware table the script checks against, it looks like your VMWare setting may be correct, however you may want to decrease the memory to 2Gb in-case there is a specific combination you are not matching.

Technically it is possible to edit the hardware compatability file used by the script, I managed to do that about 7 years so it can be done, but if you go down that path I'm afraid you are on your own

Thanks
