Physical to Virtual Migration - CUCM/UCXN

HI folks,

I have both a CUCM and UCXN cluster on MCS at 8.6.2 that I am migrating to UCS VM's with an endpoint of 9.1.2.

Do i need to migrate both the pub and sub of each cluster, or can I for each cluster migrate the pub (DRS backup/restore) at 8.6.2, then delete the sub on the migrated pub, re-ip address the pub, upgrade to 9.1.2, then add a new 9.1.2 sub, eliminating the need to do a restore/re-ip/upgrade on the sub?

This question is for both CUCM and UCXN.  UCXN messages would be moved from the 8.6.2 to 9.1.2 on cut over day with COBRAS.

P.S. Sure wish PCD supported a 9.1 endpoint....

Joe,

I know the concern behind this frequently asked question but its strongly recommended to restore each node than just Pub. This is to ensure TFTP, MoH ( among many others ) etc is restored properly if they were on separate node in present cluster.

Not very sure if it's the same even for Unity Connection. You could approach PDI Helpdesk ( complimentary support for entitled partners ) to confirm that by opening a case from here www.cisco.com/go/pdihelpdesk .
