I obtained UC540, it is interesting device and decided to bring back to live and play with it, to get some knowledge.

But I have some trouble to figure out how to bring back to live, it has new CF card installed. So far what I tried:

I have console session going to rommon

With some search online I found and downloaded full UC500 software pack UC540-8.6.2

Extracted but I do not know how to load image on UC540 and which files I should load to CF. Well just to try it, I connected Ethernet cable to port 1 on UC540  other end to my laptop, but I don't have any NIC activity. My laptop nic shows no cable plugged in (btw all 8 ports are solid green on UC540 maybe it is hardware failure?). Well, I will move forward just to see what happens. So I found couple guides, how to load new iOS on Cisco device. Used TFTP and tried to load cue-installer.uc500.8.6.5 to CF memory just to see what happens. This is what I ran in rommon:

Readonly ROMMON initialized
rommon 1 > set
PS1=rommon ! >
WARM_REBOOT=FALSE
RET_2_RTS=12:25:01 PST Thu Dec 2 2010
BSI=0
RET_2_RCALTS=
RANDOM_NUM=1845943652
?=1
rommon 2 > set ?
usage: set
rommon 3 > IP_ADDRESS=10.0.1.8
rommon 4 > IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.0
rommon 5 > DEFAULT_GATEWAY=10.0.1.1
rommon 6 > TFTP_SERVER=10.0.1.107
rommon 7 > TFTP_FILE=cue-installer.uc500.8.6.5
rommon 8 > tftpdndl

monitor: command "tftpdndl" not found
rommon 9 > tftpdnld

IP_ADDRESS: 10.0.1.8
IP_SUBNET_MASK: 255.255.255.0
DEFAULT_GATEWAY: 10.0.1.1
TFTP_SERVER: 10.0.1.107
TFTP_FILE: cue-installer.uc500.8.6.5
TFTP_MACADDR: 54:75:d0:43:9c:00
TFTP_VERBOSE: Progress
TFTP_RETRY_COUNT: 18
TFTP_TIMEOUT: 7200
TFTP_CHECKSUM: Yes
FE_SPEED_MODE: Auto Detect

Invoke this command for disaster recovery only.

ARP: address resolution for 10.0.1.107 timed out.

So this tells me that I don't have network connectivity, to load image via TFTP, am I using wrong port on UC540 why I don't get NIC activity?

So couple questions which I can't figure out:

what would be a proper way to load needed files on CF card, would card reader work?

Which files should be on CF card to get UC540 to factory defaults?

What steps should be performed to get it to factory defaults, that I could continue Quick configuration guide from step download CCA Cisco configuration assistant and Connect an Ethernet cable to one of the PoE ports on the front panel of the UC 540.

I am hitting a wall and can't find any info to move further. Any docs, links with info to clear the clouds would be helpful.

Thanks for help in advance.

hi

card reader works , so you can copy the extracted files in the card reader. please check the valid ios file in the root folder itself in the CF.
