Hello,
I couldn't find any Cisco document explain this procedure, does anyone know how to replace a IO Module (2208XP) on a UCS Chassic? From the UCSM, there's no option to decommession the IOM, do I just need to unplug the IO Module from the Chassic then put the new one in? Or there's any other step need to be taken.
Your response is appreciated, thanks

Hi Curtis
In principle if service profile associated with a blade has dual fabric connectivity, and multipathing for Ethernet and FC is working properly, you could just remove and replace a IOM.
However, and I'm paranoid here, I would do it in a service window, or at least off hours.

Thanks Walter, we have upgraded the UCSM, IOM and FI before, and there's no service inturruption at all. In that case, the multipathing should works the same when remove the IOM for a replacement?

Yes, of course; but their is a time window of around 10 minutes, where you only have one fabric in that particular chassis. And this is of course a single point of failure.

Any tips from your work? I am working on a 2104 to 2208 upgrade and looking into procedure and gotcha's at this time

Wesley,
Thanks for the doc, I was reading over that one and this one both of which have great information.

Honestly is just seems too easy like there is more to it. I was hoping to fish out some real world hands on experience / gotcha's.
