AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9 fail to upgrade

Hi!

We are trying to do an upgrade a WISM2 from 8.4.100.0 to the recomended version 8.5.171.0.

We have more than 300 APs CAP3700 and CAP3800.

All CAP3800 upgraded succefully to 8.5.171.0, but all 3700 failed...

Can anyone know why they are failling?

 

 

Information about CAP3700:

cisco AIR-CAP3702I-E-K9 (PowerPC) processor (revision A0) with 376814K/134656K bytes of memory.

Processor board ID FCW1923NPJ3

PowerPC CPU at 800Mhz, revision number 0x2151

Last reset from power-on

LWAPP image version 8.4.100.0

Are you upgrading from WLC ? have you tried reset and upgrading manually ?

Yes we tried to upgrade manually and we reseted the AP, is still failling the upgrade.

The unique error log that appear is:

Mon Nov 21 19:18:28 2022        AP with MAC: 80:e0:1d:25:97:40(C1-AP80e0.1d11.cf34) upgrade image from verion:8.4.100.0 to 8.5.171.0 failed. Failure Cause:Problem extracting image .tar file or image is not a valid...

Console into the AP and reboot.  Post the entire bootup process.

Post complete process logs to understand what is wrong ?

Hi! 

Follow the output of WISM2 and CAP3700.

> Product Version.................................. 8.4.100.0
As already advised before, you should update to 8.5.182.7 as per link below.

8.4 has been end of support for more than 5 years and that release is deferred!

Yes Leo has the answer there. You should ignore the "gold *" version on software downloads - that doesn't get updated anymore and cannot be trusted (in other words 8.5.171.0 is broken) .  Refer to the TAC recommended link below for what versions to use.

In this case you should be using 8.5.182.7 - see link in my signature below.
