Hi folks, I bought a Cisco 1041N at a trade show and am now trying to configure it?
I bought two serial cables through Amazon which are specific to Cisco:
https://www.amazon.de/-/n...o2ov_dt_b_product_details
https://www.amazon.de/dp/...o2ov_dt_b_product_details
I have installed the drivers for these cables and have updated Windows. Then I tried to establish a connection from my computer with Putty.
With the first cable I can't seem to get a connection at all. With the second cable I get a connection. I see the 1041 startup screen and see the entire startup process. However, when I give commands myself, there is a huge delay between the input and what appears on the screen. Also, some of the keystrokes i enter displayed on the screen in different graphical characters and thus the commands to set the AP are not executed!? What is going wrong, who can help me? best regards Mark

I have only used the FTDI USB-C to RJ45 cable:
https://www.amazon.com/OIKWAN-Adapter%EF%BC%8C-Essential-Accessory-Ubiquity/dp/B08F7VY86M
Now you need to make sure that you have the Putty configuration set to 9600. Take a look at this doc.

My suggestion is to paste a screen shot of your settings in putty and some of the output you are seeing.

There are many cables which don't work. This one works for me:

If you still have this issue, put the ap in common mode and reset the baud, incase that was changed. Search the internet for , "cisco ap rommon unset BAUD"
03-30-2023 02:09 PM
What do you mean by "put the ap in common mode"?
03-30-2023 02:31 PM
I think that should be ROMMON as per what Scott said to search for.

Looks like your terminal settings are ok but most likely a cable problem.
Check that the COM port advanced settings has all the buffers etc set for high speed.
Sometimes playing with the flow control setting can help.

I tried to restart the device twice to give you a more accurate view of what is displayed during bootup and what happens when I try to enter commands.
