- Follow this procedure (instead) :
You need to perform these steps:
The system boot has been aborted. The following
commands will finish loading the operating system
software:
ether_init
tftp_init
boot
ap:set IP_ADDR 10.0.0.1 ( ->change to subnet address of tftp server subnet if needed)
ap: set netmask 255.255.255.0
ap: tftp_init
tftp_init success: You can now use tftp file system!
ap: ether_init
Initializing ethernet port 0...
Ethernet speed is 100 Mb - FULL Duplex
ap: flash_init
Initializing Flash...
...The flash is already initialized.
ap:tar -xtract tftp://10.0.0.100/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.152-2.JB.tarflash (->change tftp server address & filename accordingly)
ap: set BOOT flash://ap3g2-k9w7-mx.152-2.JB/ap3g2-k9w7-xx.152-2.JB
ap: boot

additional information:
There is no change, if i hit or not hit the escape key during ramp up.
I didn t get the answer "tftp_init success: You can now use tftp file system!" and i think that is the reason why the CAP didnt download the software from tftp server. Timeout is set to 600 sec in tft server settings.
Do you have any other helpful steps, that enclose the problem
Thanks a lot

- Check the tftp server's logs (is there an incoming connection from the AP ?) ; make sure that the tftp server is reachable from the same subnet that the AP is on. Try to ping it from the AP (e.g.) (?)

Hi,
i check logs in TFTP Server and there is no incoming from CAP just as checking with wireshark Ethernet transfer protokoll, no request from 10.0.0.1 (different to AP LAP1142, i see an request and starting download transfer on same hardware setup)
I can ping tftp Server from other linux device in subnet, but i cannot ping 10.0.0.10 from ap because AP told me "unkown command" when typing ap: ping 10.0.0.10.
I cannot ping AP (10.0.0.1) from linux device
I test the same routine on another CAP2602I-E-K9 with same result. Dont get messagt that "tftp_init success: You can now use tftp file system!" and cannot download from tftp Server. (I think tftp Server is working on port TCP 69, because it works stable with LAP1142.
Any other ideas for testing enclose the error

I tested with my 1602 AP which is the same generation and it works fine.
Check https://community.cisco.com/t5/wireless-mobility-knowledge-base/access-point-rommon-recovery-ap-prompt-recovery-example/ta-p/3119495 and make sure you haven't missed any steps. Also make sure you get all the commands exactly right and don't miss any parameters - eg in your above example I don't see DEFAULT_ROUTER getting set and flash seems to be missing the colon (:)
Also if you still have the CAPWAP software on the AP then just let it boot up, login and do the TFTP from IOS using the "archive download-sw" command which will extract the files and set the boot variable for you. Just check that it's set correctly with "show boot" before you reload.

Hi,
it doesnt work. Same error
DPAA Set for Independent Mode
DPAA_INIT = 0x0
tftp://10.0.0.10/ap3g2-k9w7-tar.153-3.JF15.tar: connection timed out
ap:
I think there is no capwap software on the device, because it boots in the way like post 1 (by pressing the button) or like the way i discript in secound post (with and without pressing escape during boot up)
I dont use default router because device is only in ethernet subnet with tftp Server (winagent) and wildshark linux device. There is no other device or gateway in ethernet subnet. But is set DEFALUT_ROUTER to tftp Server adress.
I try it twice do be clear that i dont miss any step or charactor. And from your destription step 3 i dont see. it goes directly in ap: command line, and abort at step 7.
Al this dicription from Rich R and marce1000 worked on CAP1142 device, so steps and doing a correct, but didnt work on the two CAP2602I-E-K9 devices.

If it can't boot then that suggests there is no software on flash or the software is corrupted.
You can check what's on flash with "dir flash:"
>But is set DEFAULT_ROUTER to tftp Server adress.
Yes that should be fine.
I'm at a loss to why it's not working. It's a basic procedure which has worked this way on IOS APs for years and I've used it myself on many different AP models without issue. Attach your complete console log, from power-on, so we can see every command you typed and every response you got just in case there is something mis-typed or something else relevant which we might notice. Save to a text file (.txt) and attach the file rather than pasting long logs into your reply.

Make sure that tftp server on DHCP server Mode
this will solve the issue
thanks

make sure that the TFTP server on DHCP server
hopefully this will solve the issue

- That may work , but it is not a requirement.
