NCS55A2 Console port dead

I have four NCS55A2 in lab and have been relying on them a lot lately. I noticed that two of them, the console ports are not working. I traveled to the office today and swapped console cables around, and the console cables and that device appear to be working okay. line speeds are set to 115200, and I did reload one of the devices yesterday with no improvement. Any suggestions on a next step would be great!

Hello @Daniel Smith ,

On fixed chassis systems running eXR, system usually has just one physical console port available, while we have to provide console access to 3 different instances: HostOS/Sysadmin VM and XR VM.

There might be a case that you try to access not XR VM, but  Sysadmin VM or HostOS. It's possible to toggle between them available on the console by pressing “Ctrl-O”.

Let me know if it helped you.

Have a nice day

Kind Regards,

Thanks for the suggestions, it sounded familiar when you mentioned CTRL-0, but I have little experience in that space. I did as you suggested and have the following output to share:

Trying r304 (10.40.99.22, 2026)... Open

Disconnecting from 'default-sdr--1' console. Continue(Y/N)?

Connecting to 'sysadmin' console

I forgot to mention that after   Connecting to 'default-sdr--1' console, I got no more output from the system.

I went in today planning to boot from usb and restore the config on these devices. I did one at it solved the issue. I started the next but got distracted and did not boot from usb. Instead it just did a full reload and came back online. Console port working find.
