So to be clear, I need an HTTPS server enabled on my ASA to make a client (curl-like) request to the outside 3rd party HTTPS web server? If this is correct, I'll try that.

thank you for your reply! why would I need a HTTPs server on ASA for that? What I'm trying to do is to ask dnsomatic.com (https://www.dnsomatic.com/docs/api) to update the linked dynamic dns accounts with my ASA public ip address.
