ACE FT state flapping

We're normally configured for active/standby between two ACE modules in two 6500's.

For some odd reason there was a loss between the ft vlan interfaces, and the FT state was flapping between the two ACE's.

I saw all kinds of combination: active/standby-bulk, standby-bulk/active, active/active, and my terminal was filled w/ lines that say config enabled, config disabled...

I think part of the reason they were flapping was because we have preempt enabled.

However, I'd like to find out what caused the communication loss between the two modules.

Has anyone run into this issue before?

hard to tell without some data, possibilities include:

problem with ft vlan bandwidth ( is it dedicated or trunked with other vlans ?)

You may want to do a show resource usage in admin context and see if there are incrementing denies for throughput. If this is the case then check resource alloacation for the other contexts as Admin will get starved if they take up all resources.

If this is the case create a resource class for Admin reserving 1% of resources.
