I have a CE507-CDN probably running 3.0.2 software.
I wish to upgrade it to 4.1.3 ACDN but when it boots up at no point do I get an opportunity to stop the loading process.
I seems to be loading Linux and not IOS, pressing keys does not do anything.
Once it's finished booting I get a
login: prompt NOT a Username: prompt.
admin/default results in the word CISCO displayed and the words 'logins are disallowed'
If I enter root/default I can get a root prompt but seem to be in Unix type CLI.
I've tried all the software upgrade procedures and password recovery procedures but I don't get the boot sequece described on CCO.
I found a web page which describes performing the upgrade manually using Unix commands but it didn't work.
I've no CDM so can't run the wizard
Can anyone help, I've got 7 of these to do
Best Regards Tony

Tony,
It sounds like maybe you are using a PC monitor to look at the boot up as opposed to the console connection via hyperterminal or something of that nature. These CDN boxes first boot with the linux look you describe and then pop over to the console type boot up where you should see the other bootup. The username/password is either admin/default or admin/diamond.

Thanks Pete, yes mate, I'm using HyperTerminal, it's the same as for all other Cisco router and switches.
I'm not sure how I could connect a PC monitor but I've gone in the console port using 9600 8-N-1 as usual.
Have you ever encountered a login instead of a username prompt?

Tony,
Yes, I have seen this although it's been some time now. I just looked closer at you original note and see that you are running 3.0.2 RC something probably. Most of the time this would have required an additional CDM (Content Distribution Manager) whereby you would have upgraded through it.
To get to ACNS 4.x, check out the following:
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/uce/acns41/sysmnt/1888upg.htm#xtocid15
An refer to the upgrading from 3.x to 4.x section.

Hello
It looks like I can get hold of a CDM 4650, so I can upgrade the CDN.
I've a quick question, how does the software from the CDM get to the CDN?
There is no CD-ROM drive on the CDM and it's software might be lower than the required.
Any help appreciated
