Hi,
I have two cisco 6509 chasis each with a CSM which are configured in the active-standby mode.Incase the active unit experiences are outage,is the MAC-Address and IP Address of the Active taken over by the standby unit. This is because all my Servers are pointing to the active unit as their default gateway.
Thanks!

you should use an alias addres on the server vlan pointing to your servers. see this document: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps708/products_module_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00803e00b3.html

I was comparing the CSM Redundancy configuration with the FWSM .Incase of the active FWSM failure, the standby FWSM takes over the MAC and IP of the failed unit.So to the end user it is very transparent.
Does the CSM failure also works the same way with configuring HSRP.

like mentioned above it uses alias address & ft vlan (which enables hsrp on the blade using the ft vlan)
