CSS 11503 gigabit interfaces failover problem

Hi,

We have 2 11503s in failover pair, connected to 2 switches in stack, and we don't have problems if we use css ethernet interfaces (10/100) - If we try to use the 2 gigabit interfaces (1/1 and 1/2), letting the failover in 2/1 interface (10/100), the 2 CSS don't see each other anymore and they begin to flap every 30 seconds becoming primary all two. When I disconnect the failover CSS, all returns correct. The 2 switches in stack have gigabit interfaces.

Here is the show phy command:

        Configured         Actual                  Partner Flow

    2/8           auto      auto    10 Mb/s   half   Down  15    -        -

Before this, I used 2/6 and 2/8 ports without problems.

Many thanks.

Hi Daniela,

Do you see any interface errors on CSS or switch side during the issue? If you have appropriate level set the in show log sys.log you should see  message like interface down or reason for failover.

You can also check in show ether-errors if you have any errors on the aforesaid interfaces during the problem. If yes then we need to investigate what is causing those errors. Can you try different interfaces on switch side and see if the issue still persists.

Kanwal
