When I did "show ip slb serverfarm detail", I got a status for each server. What does it mean by "failed" even though I can ping the box without problem? What's the criteria for this "failed" status?
I also saw "ready_to_test" status. What is that? Thanks.

are you using software slb or a CSM in slb mode ?
Any ways, the status failed normally indicates that there is no arp entry for the server.
Read_to_test is just before sending arp request or probe if any configured.

Hi,
I am use software slb.
If there is no arp entry, why am I able to ping to the box?

HI,
is your real directly connect to one of your VLANs or is there at least one layer3 hop in between?
Just for explanation:
If the real is one or more layer3 hops away the arp will fail if you do not have ip proxy-arp enabled on the next router.
If you do a normal ping form your PC or what ever routing will be used -> no need to arp the real server from the ping source.
What happens if you add a icmp probe to your failed service?

Joerg
