Understanding Load Balancing

We currently deploy Cisco CSS 11000 devices and a redundant CSM blades in a Cisco 6513. I've configured and maintained these devices for over a year now and I've just come to realize :) that I don't really understand load balancing theory as well as I should.

Does Cisco (or anyone else for that matter) provide comprehensive information online that would assist me in that regard? Any good books?

O'Reilly has a book out there called "Load Balancing". There are others as well.

My personal favorite is "Content Delivery Networks" (ISBN 0072190469).
