Start Testing on Firmware 0.0.0.0 ?

Hello Don,

Our EFT sample (SG200-08P) arrived perfect for the lunch break, so I could not resist to bring it up. Not sure it makes sense to go into the details, as it calims to be firmware 0.0.0.0 as installed in the fabrication process. Not bad for this status I must admit.

So checked the Web UI. Appears this factory firmware is not not IE(8, latest) ready yet. After login - fcor a varibale legth of time, all that's visible is a grey background, all pop-ups report http://[FQDN]/scripts/NikolaHdrLinks.js "value' is null or no object and thus the pop-up can't be [close]d. As wel, we see some vertical sfoll bars to much, for example on the System Summary page.

Have not managed to bring up PoE initially "out of the box" to four PVC2300. Expect this shoud be feasible. Discovered a few things then. Ha, of course I managed to pick ports 5..8, reading the fine print below the connectors educates, and tells me only 1..4 can be powered. No problem. But still - the cams did not received any power. Similar to what we had seen on ths Sx300, the power status information on the Status Page is broken.

Connecting all four cams in short sequence made the unit reboot. Aha - to much power used? But these cams just eat something above 5W each, so this  should still not exhaust. I'll retry a reboot (cold and warm) later with this load.

Spotted the "Power Limit Type" was set to "legacy" and the Detection Type "legacy only". Hm, never had problems with PoE and thse cams, even with older switches (C, L, or 3rd parties - never had to change the PoE config). Re-configured g1 to Type "Dot3AF and LLDP-MED", and Detection type to "802.3af 4point Only" and copied the settings to g2..g4. Et volia - all up. Switch basically works otherwise in a flat network.

Do we really have to bother the users about the different PoE types and the very likely silicon-dependant [Linear Technologies LTC4xxx?] feature set?

Unless you encourage us to go ahead with the factoy 0.0.0.0 firmware, I'll take a break here.

Regards,

-Kurt.

Hi Kurt,

Sorry I didn't see your msg until now. Please wait until we announced the latest (good) fw to test. As matter of fact, we ran into a few problem and fw might be needed to replace using console (yes there is a console jumper). Anyway, stay tune and I'll get back to you w/ further instruction.

Thanks,

Don
