Hey Guys/Gals,
One of our Cisco 5508 WLC devices had its flash contents formatted while in a testing environment and effectively lost everything stored there including the OS. I am wanting to clone a copy from a working WLC to the non-working one, as I do not have access to Cisco TAC, and have tried everything in the current OS for cloning it to a TFTP server to be used on the non-working device but to no avail. I have resorted to drastic measures and am unsure if it will even work or if it is even worth my time. Plan is as follows:
- Create a bootable flash drive running CentOS
- Create script to run at start up to configure applicable Telnet and IP settings for access to device
- Telnet into device and mount the working devices filesystem
- Navigate to the /mnt/images folder and copy applicable files
- Transfer files from the drive to my TFTP Server
- Access non-working WLCs bootloader
- Use manual management of OS option to pull files from TFTP Server
- Pray!!!!!!
Any insight or other plans of attack are much appreciated. Thanks!!!!!
