I have 2 CiSCO 9500-40XA switches that come from Cisco already with the configuration below:
SWITCH A sh switch
Switch/Stack Mac Address : 0001.0202.aabb - Local Mac Address
Mac persistency wait time: Indefinite
H/W Current

At the moment we will not be using them in stacking.
How do I disable or change the base mac address of the switches, because with the same macs the communication between the
sites does not work.
we have already tried to execute the following commands:
(config)#no switch 1 provision
Error: A switch is already physically present at this location
(config)#no switch 1 provision c9500-40x
Error: A switch is already physically present at this location
switch 1 stack port 1 disable
no stackwise-virtual
We are using IOS XE Software, Version 17.03.03
How can I proceed ???

Hi - Did you receive these switches recently? We received 2x 9500-40x's and I also found they both have system MACs of 0001.0202.aabb. Mine came with 16.12, I downgraded to 16.6.9, but I have the same problem. Because of this they also have the same spanning-tree bridge ID, and I can't build a port-channel between them. All their ports have the same MACs as well (e.g. te1/0/1 on both switches has the same MAC, te1/0/2 has the same MAC on both, etc)

So I figured this out - some switches shipped with an invalid MAC address format in ROMMON, which causes the switch to use that default MAC we're seeing.
It's under bug CSCvx58338 - Some C9500 switches shipped from mfg have incorrect MAC_ADDR programmed in rommon/bootloader
If you boot into ROMMON and run "set", you'll see the MAC is formatted as AAAA.BBBB.CCCC instead of AA:AA:BB:BB:CC:CC. Run these commands in ROMMON and you'll have the correct system MAC after it reboots
unset MAC_ADDR reset
