Cisco Route metric

Hi All

I would like the opinion of the community for a "school case".

I have two CISCO C9300s.

network A 172.30.79.0/24 (connected to switch 1) must be able to reach network B 172.30.83.0/24 (connected to switch B).

Switch A is connected by two links:

- an interconnection network: switch A 10.10.10.1 and switch B 10.10.10.2

- an MPLS operator knowing the networks on both sides and able to route without problems.

I would like to put static routes with priority for the interconnection network and second for MPLS.

Unfortunately I can't find the right configuration and the tests carried out with the metrics are not conclusive.

Could you give me your opinion? (VRF, OSPF, RIP?).

regards

the FW-A to MPLS which protocol you run ??

I'm sorry, I wrote MPLS, but this is an IPSEC VPN beetween two firewall. the two firewalls know the routes for the different networks.

Hi MHM,

have you any idea that could be help me to solve problem ?

regards.

Hi, sorry I was so busy last week, Now
the SW (both side) forward traffic to FW via
1- if SW is L2 then the FW is default GW, this is issue, can you confirm you not use FW as GW??
2- if SW is L3 then there is routing protocol or static route toward FW and here you can use static route
the metric of static route must be less than static  route toward FW IF you use static route toward FW, or you can increase the metric of static route toward FW and keep default metric of static route for interconnect.

Hi

thank you for your reply.

the switch is L3. The following static routes are present.

SWA:

IP 0.0.0.0 / MASK 0.0.0.0 GW 172.30.98.253 metric 10

IP 172.30.79.0 / MASK 255.255.255.0 GW 10.10.10.6 metric 1

IP 172.30.79.0 / MASK 255.255.255.0 GW 1172.30.98.253 metric 2

SWB:

IP 0.0.0.0 / MASK 0.0.0.0 GW 172.30.99.253 metric 10

IP 172.30.83.0 / MASK 255.255.255.0 GW 10.10.10.1 metric 1

IP 172.30.83.0 / MASK 255.255.255.0 GW 1172.30.99.253 metric 2

unfortunately when I test disconnected the link (10.10.10.0), the switch continues to want to send the floors via the route with metric 1.
