Samsung Smart switch restricted

Hi gents,

I am a bit struggling with the Samsung Smart Switch app. When I am trying to move user's data from an older Samsung phone to a newer one. Although I've deployed the "Samsung Smart Switch app" via Meraki Apps, this one is (when I run it) announcing "Security policies restrict the use of the application Smart Switch". There are no security polices defined in our MDM. I've also tried to deploy Samsung Knox allowing use of app Smart Switch, sadly also with no luck..

Don't you have any idea, please?

Smart Switch no longer works on Fully Managed with Work Profile devices as it was not designed for enterprise environments. While Smart Switch can be installed and may have worked previously on a device in this configuration, the app was not officially supported in this type of environment and it is now disabled by default starting with version 3.7.05.8. The warning message will now appear and prevent the app from launching.

TL;DR - it's not supported, unfortunately.

I haven't tested it on the Work Profile but with the Device Owner Mode I have, and it works.

What you want to do is:

  1. -Create a profile and call it "Allow Smartswitch".
  2. -Click Add Setting
  3. -Look for and select "Managed App Config"
  4. -Select "Android" from the Platform dropdown
  5. -Select the "Smart Switch" app from the next drop down (it has to exist in your app repository)
  6. -You can click the Schema "show supported settings" button to verify it still supports "allow_run" (which at the time of my writing, it does)
  7. -Next click the blue + button. Under the "Choose Key" drop down, you'll see the supported setting. Select it.
  8. -A toggle switch will appear. it is set to F for false by default. Toggle it to T for True.
  9. -Save

I tied this setting to a tag. I add the tag to the devices when I need to transfer data and remove it when i'm done.

It might take a couple minutes for the setting to apply to the devices. May need to close an reopen SmartSwitch.
