Hi Everyone,

How is everyone doing!

On ASA  5505 i can ping from PC to internet site. This PC is conncted directly  to the -------  ASA inside interface.

When using ASDM  i can ping the website when i choose the interface as outside.

but when i choose the interface as inside while using ASDM ping does not work to same website.

Need to know why this ping  while using  ASDM    and interface as inside  does not work?

Regards

Mahesh

Hello Mahesh,

Expected,

When you set inside that means that the packet will go out the inside interface not that is being source from that interface as you would think as on IOS that's what it means

Hello Mahesh,

Hey man my pleasure

You are right on an IOS it means that interface will be the source IP of the ping packet.

On an ASA it means the packet will be sourced with the interface IP address BUT the destination will need to be on that same interface as the packet will go out that same interface,

So if being sent from inside the packet will go out only to the inside interface

Hi Julio,

On IOS i know when we do the ping it has source IP of outside interface.

so on ASA  when we choose interface as inside does it mean that packet passes through the inside interface?

Please If you can explain me more about this ping failure that will be appreciated?

MAhesh
