Hello Community,

We currently employ 1 Cisco ASA 5525, we are looking to increasing our redundancy, with that said we are looking to adding a second ASA 5525 with the same hardware specs to allow for a proper failover process.  The question i have is there anything i need to be aware of when setting this up? is it as simple as purchasing the identical hardware? I can work through cisco docs for the configuration, i just want to confirm with the community that the hardware needs to be identical, i dont want to get burned when going through with the procurement.

Thanks

Blake

Hi Blake,

Yes, the hardware and the software on both the devices should be identical.

You can check this link for reference:

Aditya

As Aditya noted, identical hardware is required, as is same software version.

Are you using any of the service modules (ips, cxsc or sfr)? If so, you need to consider the licensing associated with those.
