ASA Hardware Memory/CPU

Could someone please explain the discrepency for the advertised hardware specs to what is actually utilized?

Below are the show version and show memory of ASA5525 and ASA5545.

Hardware:   ASA5545, 12288 MB RAM, CPU Lynnfield 2659 MHz, 1 CPU (8 cores)
            ASA: 6144 MB RAM, 1 CPU (1 core)

sh mem
Free memory:        5060000448 bytes (79%)
Used memory:        1382450496 bytes (21%)
-------------     ------------------
Total memory:       6442450944 bytes (100%)

 

Hardware:   ASA5525, 8192 MB RAM, CPU Lynnfield 2393 MHz, 1 CPU (4 cores)
            ASA: 4096 MB RAM, 1 CPU (1 core)

 sh mem
Free memory:        3453087840 bytes (80%)
Used memory:         841879456 bytes (20%)
-------------     ------------------
Total memory:       4294967296 bytes (100%)

 

Where are the extra RAM and cpu cores being used?

Hi,

The outputs are correct. You need to see the one which is corresponding to the ASA as that is for the ASA device.

ASA5525 shows the RAM for the Module as well.

The outputs are correct. You need to see the one which is corresponding to the ASA as that is for the ASA device.
