Dear ALL,

a customer of mine requested security redundancy so I'd like to install two Cisco ASA5510 in failover configuration but I don't know

where to find the right part-numbers to place the order.

Wished configuration is one active and the other one in stand-by

                                 Kind Regards

The part# is exactly the same for active and standby failover ASA. There is no separate part# for standby failover ASA.

You would need to have exactly the same model of ASA to run failover.

Please find the list of ASA part# for your reference (towards the bottom of the page):

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/vpndevc/ps6032/ps6094/ps6120/product_data_sheet0900aecd802930c5.html

Also if you are going to purchase ASA5510 model, you would need to get the Security Plus bundle to run failover.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your information.

Just for example:

I buy 2 ASA5510  part number ASA5510-BUN-K9

then I have to buy 2  Security Plus Licenses  L-ASACSC10PLUS=

...in order to get active/stand-by high availability

Is that correct?

                                Kind Regards

yes make sure tht the hardware match and they run the same code

with regard to licensing u will need same licenses prior to 8.3 code, from 8.3 code you have an option to combine few licenses for failover pair

you can refer to release notes on asa 8.3 to learn more
