Cisco Firepower 1010 For home

Hello ladies/gentlemen,

Up till a month ago, I had worked with FTD 101 in an FMC and enterprise environment where the application is a bit different and very robust. We never even worried about what licenses they had because they came fully loaded.

Now I intend to use a stand-alone FPR 1010 behind my home cable service to protect my home network, an environment I've never played with this product in before. I need the most basic protection it can provide right out-of-box. My question is will I still be needed to dig in my pocket extra for any license for this.

@Khrysis you can purchase the hardware which comes with the base/essentials license and has basic Firewall, NAT and S2S VPN functionality - no addtional license required. However if you want Remote Access VPN, IPS, Threat, Malware and URL filtering then you'll need to purchase additional license and if you want to upgrade to the latest software you'll need the hardware to also be under support, also an additional cost.

Without an FMC you'll need to manage the FTD locally using FDM, which has less functionality than if managed by the FMC.

Thanks Rob, it clearly shows from your response this is a business-grade toy. I'll go for something more home use oriented.
