Greetings,
I am attempting to upload the Cisco PIX Device Manager ver 2.1 to a Cisco 525 PIX ver 6.23 using a TFTP server, but encounter the following error message on the PIX:
TFTP: Timed out attempting to connect.
The access-list that would block TFTP has been removed, but the error continues to persist.
Any remedy to resolve this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This is a little strange, but any way try to permit explicitly once again by putting conduit permit and check how it goes.

sometimes little things can be the issue. you don't say what you are using for tftp, but if you are using the solarwinds server, it needs to be configured for send, receive, or both.
if the tftp server is not responding you will get a timeout message on the PIX.

Thanks for responding, but I am simply uploading the Cisco PIX Device Manager ver 2.1 using the Cisco TFTP server. The TFTP server will receive the request from the PIX, but in attempting to send the data it fails.
Your anticipated response and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have had this problem before too. I usually reboot the pix and as soon as it comes back up I do the tftp transfer and it usually works.
I have also noticed that if you have failover configured you can do the upload to the standby pix the force the pix's to failover and then upload the other.
I use Pumpkin for my tftp server.

hi,
There could be various reasons due to which u may be encountering the above error
1) Check for connectivity between your TFTP server and PIX.You will be using a cross-cable to connect your PC to your PIX and the cable will be connected to the inside interface of your PIX.
2) The TFTP server should be running on the machine and the file which you want to upload should be in the root directory of the tftp server.
If you still face problems , try rebooting the PIX once. I hope this helps...coz this is my first post here.

Greetings,
Thanks for replying to my post, but unfortunately your recommended solution of rebooting the PIX did not work. Everything else checked out, but the time-out errors continue to surface.
Instead of using the Cisco TFTP server I used PumpKIN which revealed the following error "Transmission of pdm-211 is timed-out."
All solutions or recommendations to resolve this issue is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
