The process for installing FTD or ASA on the 2100 is a little different, is similar to when an ASA with SFR module get reimaged to an ASA-FTD.

Below is the link to the procedure.

It is pretty straight forward, just make sure you have a tftp server before you begin. I done it myself and for a couple of customer.

Hello Sam,

The reason is because the chassis manager is used when there is logical device being installed on the FPR. A 2100 get reimaged to either ASA or FTD, thus there are no other options.

For example, a 9300's has a chassis manager because they are multiple security modules that can be installed on it. Technically you could have a Security module with an ASA image, while the other one has FTD.

FDM is used to actually being able to manage the device and do configuration, somewhat like ASDM. The chassis manager only lets you do some basic feature to get the logical device operational, then the rest of the configuration has to be performed on ASDM or an FMC.

2100's do have an FDM feature which would allow you to perform most configuration.

What feature from the Chassis Manager are you looking for?

Thank you  argrullo,

it was just that i have to install a 2100 serie FTD and I was wondering why there was no FCM on it.
