Issue - according to the Cisco PIX Hardware manual, once memory is added to a PIX, it can not be removed or downgraded otherwise the firewall will be "unusable".
I have a situation where I need to do just that. Testing the downgrade by removing the 128 meg chip and replacing with 64 meg the firewall does become "unusable" - the POST seems to run correctly based on the audible beeps, but the boot cycle never never completes and a prompt is not received at the console. Replacing the memory with the 128 meg DIMM resolves the problem.
Any advice on downgrading the memory and the steps required to resolve the issue?
Thanks.....
