Failover license

How do I implement the Failover license function under FPR1010-NGFW-K9? Do I need to buy a license? Or does it come with the relevant subscription?

The failover capability comes built into your base license, so no additional purchase is needed for failover

However, there are some requirements for your HA pair:

• Identical hardware
•  same software version
• Both require matching feature licenses

Does the functional license refer to the TMC firewall license? If I don't have this license or it has expired, can I still use the failover function?

the base license should have failover .. have you tried to use failover and see any issues

When you say basic license, do you mean the one that comes with the device? Do you also not need to purchase it separately?

Base license = the non-expiring license that comes free and is included with all models of Firepower NGFW devices.
