I have a FWSM deployed where the MSFC is behind the FWSM. A department need has come up that requires them to be placed in a VLAN an islolated. Does that mean I will need to switch models and move the MSFC in front of the firewall?

Little bit difficult to say with the limited information but bear in mind that if you use another context you can have the MSFC in front in one context and the MSFC behind in another context.
Also even without an additional license you get 2 contexts + the admin context.

Our current model has the MSFC behind the FWSM. We have one outside interface to the outside world. We have a number of VLANs defined on the MSFC.
Now we need to create a new VLAN but protect it from the other VLANs. THere will still be only one outside interface.
Are there links to information on context and how to configure them>
