Pix 501 problems

I just inherited a pix 501 router and I can't seem to access it through the console port with hyperterminal or any terminal emulation software.... i can however telnet to it but the pix asks for a password. I tried multiple computers but i still receive no data on the terminal emulations programs. I have connected it with a straight cable and the serial adapter for the straight cable. Is there something i am doing wrong or is it possible for the console port could be disabled.... any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to use a rolled cable. It is the light blue cable that comes with any cisco device. If you don't have one you can make one using the pinout on the website below.

thank you I made the role over cable and now I can see the console.
