Is pix 515r with one interface (inside, outside), able to support multiple vpn configurations from the outside. ie different passwords for remote sites to vpn in to the same pix box location.

Yes with xauth and an AAA server. Also, according to http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/cc/pd/fw/sqfw500/prodlit/p515e_ds.htm with the VPN accelerator card it supports up to 2,000 tunnels.
