A couple of years ago, the previous Sys Admin at our facility bought 2 Cisco 515E firewalls and set them up to be in Failover. Everything has been fine with that configuration. Now the management at my facility wants to move one of those firewalls to another network.
We understand that this will leave us somewhat vulnerable to a hardware issue on our primary firewall appliance and are going to accept that risk.
The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way for us to get the secondary unit out of failover mode. Upon some research we have found that the license type for that Cisco PIX 515E is a FailOver only license.
How does one go about getting that changed? Is it a money issue? I tried to request a new DES key for that serial numbered unit, but the new key is also "FailOver Only".
Any ideas? Or do I call Cisco and pay for a different license?
