I have what probably is an obvious question but I'll ask anyway. On the pix 515e, what needs to be done, if anything, to implement the ids feature?

Hi,

Not an obvious question at all. You do need to enable some commands on the PIX in order to turn on the IDS features. Take a look at this link and then let me know if you have any specific questions.
