PIX drops packets from internal network

Hi,

We have PIX 501 configured with PAT for general Internet access, no ACL applied to inside interface. Sometimes some of the users cannot access services on the Internet (ports 80, 25), they can access those services on the LAN so I think the PIX is dropping the packets from particular IPs for whatever reason.

How can I see what traffic from inside to outside was blocked on the PIX and for what reason?

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Alex

Hi,

You can enable syslogging on pix and examine the log messages to investigate.

Also have a look at this URL, which might help you.

Hope this helps

It sounds likely you have exceeded your license - if its a 10 user license and you have more than 10 seperate ip addresses connecting out through it, it will block any additional attempts to connect out.

As it holds this session state for a while before dropping them, it can seem quite erratic, almost random.
