Unable to ssh virtual FMC

I am trying to access the CLI for our FMC instance via vSphere and SSH. When entering the correct credentials the login banner is refreshed / asks for credentials again on vSphere and the Putty session just closes the window. If I enter the credentials wrong I get the incorrect login message. I have verified that ssh is enabled in the platform policy and verified that the local and external authentication methods both work for the GUI. Also aware that the GUI and CLI password are maintained in separate databases but they were initially configured the same. Please help

When you login via vSphere console that is not ssh, but is rather a console login. Try using the local admin credential via that method. If that fails, you can recover the local admin password by booting from iso and interrupting the boot process as described here:

Thank you for the reply. I think I may have worded my problem incorrectly. I tried to access the console through vSphere first with the local login and then I tried ssh with the Putty application. We have radius configured on ISE for external authentication. Both avenues did not give me a login failure but rather reset the authentication session. I will try the iso recovery method as the local login doesn’t work and the external authentication via ssh doesn’t work.
