Hello,

Is there anyway to get VPN alerts emailed to engineers when a VPN goes down. Client has serveral VPNs, but no application that monitors whether VPN is up or down. I've tried the following, but doesn't appear to be working properly.

logging enable
logging timestamp

logging list e-mail-notification level critical

logging list e-mail-notification message 713119

logging list e-mail-notification message 713120

logging list e-mail-notification message 113019

logging buffered debugging

logging trap debugging

logging asdm informational

logging mail e-mail-notification

logging host inside X.X.X.X

logging mail e-mail-notification

logging from-address asa5510@abc.com

logging recipient-address nacho@abc.com level critical

logging trap list e-mail-notifications

Hello

The configuration looks fine. I see that you didn't include the smtp-server. Also the email address for the source and destination have to be true address on that server.

If all this is fine than you can setup a capture from the ASA interface to the SMTP server and test. You should see a 3 way handshake communication when the email is sent to the server. This is how:

I hope you find this information helpful.
