encrypt data between switch

Hello,

I need to encrypt the traffic between two sites connected by a ( dark) fiber. Besides VPN are there any way to do that? I have found that the compact version of switches can encrypt traffic but only to clients, not between them. Can you please tell me if are there any ways to do that at a price closed to compact switch prices?

If you have switches that support 802.1ae (MACsec), those can encrypt the links between switches.

You pay a premium for that capability and it's not available on any compact form factor switches.
