In August of this year, I attended BlackHat USA and DefCon for the first time. As a developer, it's not lost on me that security begins at the code-level; nor is it lost on me that no matter what your programming background is, very rarely are secure coding practices taught or emphasized. Hence, why I've begun traveling to major cybersecurity conferences. It's a means of developing a well-rounded cybersecurity education.
In my latest Cisco blog, I outline the 5 main reasons why I recommend that developers (meaning, anyone who codes for any reason) should attend a security conference.
I'm interested in your opinion. Do you write code? Whether you do or not, how important do you think it is that developers learn security?
Would you go so far as to attend a cybersecurity conference?
