Hi,
We monitoring our switches with an external monitoring application (SMARTS) and sometimes we have alerts for a CPU utilization like this:
SMARTS: XXXXXXXXXRSAN - cseSysCPUUtilization - High CPU utilization. It's at 98 % (...or what ever...)
This wouldn't be a problem because is just a second or a couple of seconds but is enough to trigger the alarm in the external monitoring application.
My question is, could I do something to avoid this? Something inside the monitoring/alerts configuration in the Cisco Switch, something like If the CPU utilization is 90% and last (at least) 30 seconds then send the alert/alarm.
Cheers.

You might have a configuration like this: process cpu threshold type total rising 90 interval 5 falling 20 interval 5

Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Please, could you be more specific for this case?
I don't understand what interval 5 means or falling 20... (what means the numbers?)
Please, a little explanation?
Thanks.
