How to recover a failed SMU patch upgrade ?

Hello, we are upgrading some NCS540 routers (7.5.2 firmware) with an SMU patch.Would it be possible roll back this upgrade if it fails in any way, or would we need to recover via a console connection ?Thank you kindly.
