Some routers allow users to update their dynamic public IP address with OpenDNS. This feature is not immediately apparent in the Airport Extreme preferences.

They have created a 64 bit OpenDNS Updater app. I asked and they sent me a copy, about 20 emails later. I presumed it was already posted for download since this was many months ago, May 2019.

Regarding options presented above: 1 and 2 won't work for me. All my machines run the latest OS for various reason, but #1 is I would never hold back on an OS update because of a single application like OpenDNS updater.
