II just upgraded my 4402 to the latest 6.0.188 and i completed suscesfully but I cannot ping the Controller. I tehn check the cdp neighbor and notice the new version on the controller but the controller lost the ip address. ip address shows 0.0.0.0....
The answer is No. I had the same issue and had tyo purchase a 5508. Do not buy the 5508-25 and the 25 license upgrade. That method is mroe expensive. Buy the 5508-50 and you also can upgrade more license in the future.
