The amount of time this feature would save if it worked properly would be substantial.As of april 2024 "Meraki SM and Apple are still working together on this, but no ETA for resolution at this time."
Once I can physically look at one of these ipads tomorrow, i will check the storage usage if it allows me, but I just could not understand why it was consuming so much.
